Amazon is planning to open a new location in the city’s industrial hub of Philadelphia.
The company’s new office is set to open by the end of 2019 and will be in a space that already houses several large retail stores.
The company has been looking to locate in the central business district for a number of years, and has previously opened a store in a former Sears location.
The city’s mayor said Amazon was “looking forward to working with the City of Philadelphia and the city of Philadelphia’s economic development team to ensure the city can benefit from this new location.”
Amazon’s plans for the new building were first reported by Business Insider.
The city’s development office said it has been “deeply engaged” in talks with Amazon about the location and has received offers from both local and national companies.
Amazon is expected to start building the office sometime this year.
